I'm Donald (not David or Darrell, and let me repeat that: my name is not David), another trendy web developer who likes to make cute introductions about myself, and that apparently shows that I like Apple, I care so much about markup languages that I spend most of my time either drinking, the only recreational activity available, or reading up on the latest thing I can('t) do with the <canvas> tag in HTML5. I also write a blog on topics that everyone else is already writing about with no real insight, all in the name of staying modern. Also, I like satire, as soon as I figure out what it means.
Since I used to be so trendy until I realized I'm using Fedora Core 12 and Ubuntu 10.04 on a 6-year-old laptop and a 2-year-old netbook, respectively, and I don't make enough money/have the right kind of interests to be "hipster", I have a blog somewhere. I took it down since there was no value in writing to it and I was contributing to the very problem I detested. But, if you like to read old content where I politely say I didn't enjoy working at most companies, especially those that paid me $8 per hour to be a developer, you can read my syncophantic commentaries "musings" somewhere around here.
Some people might care to know what I like and/or do. I'm a web developer and entrepreneur, overworked, but still motivated. I maintain and develop websites for a company, but I'm not at all in a department full of developers, but it's definitely a job that makes me feel worth something career-wise.
I actually own two companies, and one has been used a lot less since I closed this down (nobody would hire a guy who whines and disapproves of the cultic, over-zealous community that makes up web developers, marketers, designers, etc.). At the other one, I do a lot less developing and more strategizing. But if you're worried, don't be—I still do real work at that company.
Outside of that, I like to talk nothing at all about the Internet, since most websites, memes, and jargon/slang annoys me. Like "vacay" and "butthurt." Those are really annoying. So I play video games, but video games, like other technological news, is so heavily sensationalized that any time I play a new Xbox 360 game it feels like I'm saving the world and making fundamental components like hardware and controllers obsolete. That said, I like to play classic games, so oftentimes I sound like an old man talking about the good ol' days of NES when I was an illiterate 3 year old playing Mario 2. If I don't do that, I like to escape to weird cities with something I can enjoy like ocean breezes or mountains.
I was born here, but now I live in this city (by choice) which is not this city, even though people on Twitter confuse the two. The former is larger in every possible way, but it's not full of the hipster, bohemian, hippie lifestyle I don't even like, so it sucks and everyone hates it and the other city is better because you can drink and party, which you can do in every city, but apparently it's better there. I do neither of those things, so I don't care. I do like it here and don't like it there, so since I'm happy, that makes all other opinions invalid.
I go to school at this place and I went to school at this worthless institution because this thing pushed me away from this school, which I liked. I also like the school I'm at now, and taking school seriously. I went back simply for personal reasons, and have decided to major in computer science. Also, I like to link to things in my comments.
Finally, I'm married and I met this wife here, which may surprise you because having a faith and a large amount of satire don't go together. Well, that's what they say, but that hasn't been proven.
With all of this, I saved about 300 database entries that could succinctly be described on one page. If you're searching for me on a social network, don't waste your time. It's not that I don't use those services, I just detest them so much that I try to avoid them. If you still want to contact me, take a step back into 2004 with this little device and you can say something to me. It's not Gmail, because Gmail is forbidden in my religion, so just use this. Otherwise, good luck.
Oh yeah, I built this with emacs, and I usually use vim. Both are good. I win.
